Since its foundation, Citrotec® has been revolutionizing the industry with cutting-edge technological solutions. With an international presence and a highly qualified team, the company celebrates 25 years of innovation, expansion, and commitment to excellence.
On March 10th, Citrotec® celebrated 25 years of history, establishing itself as a reference in the development of equipment and technological solutions for the industry.
Citrotec®’s Technical Director, Paulo Sampaio, recalls that the company was founded to meet the demand for qualified maintenance services in large corporations within the citrus juice sector. “Over time, we identified a gap in the market for specialized equipment and, thus, we evolved from a service provider into a manufacturing company. Growth was natural, and in 2005, we also expanded our operations to the sugar and ethanol sector,” he highlights.
Today, the company has two modern manufacturing plants, totaling over 5,000 m² of facilities, in addition to two international branches in the United States and Mexico. Its team is composed of more than 300 employees, and the company maintains strategic partnerships with two renowned engineering firms, Etech and BTZ, as well as the international companies Uni-Systems and FoodBev Integrity, which commercially represent Citrotec® in the United States, Mexico, and Central America.
“Our commitment is to develop innovative and customized solutions that truly make a difference for our clients,” emphasizes Sampaio. Citrotec® stands out by offering complete projects, from the design and manufacturing of equipment to assembly and technical support, ensuring quality, efficiency, and specialized assistance.
New Horizons
Citrotec®’s international expansion began in the United States, with the founding of Citrotec® LTD, which later became Citrotec® International. The branch is located in Key Biscayne, Florida, and marked the company’s first step towards the global market.
Continuing its growth, in 2018, Citrotec® expanded its international presence with the creation of Citrotec® Mex, in Monterrey, Mexico. This new unit further strengthened the company’s operations in Latin America and opened doors to new opportunities.
“It was through these two branches that we achieved global recognition, sending our equipment and solutions to several countries, such as the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Argentina, Ghana, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel, Paraguay, and Puerto Rico,” highlights Sampaio.

Throughout its trajectory, Citrotec® has developed innovative technologies in all the sectors in which it operates, including citrus, food, mining, and sugar-energy. The impact of these solutions was so significant that the company registered several patents, both in Brazil and abroad. One of the most recent milestones was the U.S. patent for the technology of the Evaporative Condenser in Condensation Turbines, obtained in 2020, making this innovation widely recognized in the global market.
Among the equipment developed by Citrotec®, the Turbulent Mist Evaporators, the Vinasse Concentrators, the Ecovin®, and the Ecovin JL® stand out — the latter created in partnership with the renowned evaporation specialist Jaime Lacerda. In addition, Citrotec® made history by becoming the first Brazilian company to design, manufacture, and install equipment for corn ethanol with 100% national technology.
